A baby girl - whose body was found at a recycling centre in Co Wicklow last week - has been laid to rest.

Over 100 people gathered to pay their final respects to Baby Alannah at Redford Cemetery in Greystones - including members of the gardaí and workers from the Greenstar plant in Bray.

The small white coffin carrying the body of the infant - who gardaí and Greenstar staff named Baby Alannah - was lowered into the ground by four young men who worked at the plant where her remains were found on Wednesday of last week.

Flowers and toys were left by the graveside - where a plaque read Alannah - may she rest in peace.

Dozens of others signed books of condolence at the Redford Cemetery.

The service was carried out by Reverend Alan Breen and Monsignor Enda Lloyd - who said death caused all human wisdom to fail.

Gardaí say they published details of the funeral so Alannah’s mother could visit her grave - they’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Superintendent Pat Ward is urging Baby Alannah's family to come forward, saying they will give the child's mother or father "all the support they need".

Anyone with information is urged to phone gardaí on 01-666-5300.

Tusla, the child and family agency, has also established a dedicated helpline on 076-695-8400.
