A young boy and three motorcyclists have died over the weekend on Irish roads.

The deaths come as road safety experts appeal for drivers to take extra care on the roads ahead of the August bank holiday weekend.

The boy (6) passed away at Temple Street Children's Hospital on Sunday after being knocked down and seriously injured on Friday evening on Dublin's Shanganagh Road.

The three motorcyclists died in separate crashes in Limerick and Dublin.

One man in his 30s was killed after a crash in Dublin on Sunday morning.

The single vehicle crash happened at the Old Cabra Road at around 2.20am.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene - while the pillion passenger, a man in his 40s, was also seriously injured in the crash.

In Limerick, two men died in separate motorbike crashes on Saturday.

A man in his 20s died after his motorbike left the road at O'Malley Park at around 7.40pm on Saturday night.

Separately, a man in his 50s was seriously injured when his motorbike hit a roundabout at Quinn's Cross.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Ninety-two people have lost their lives on the roads this year.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA), the AA and the gardaí are all appealing for motorists to take extra care on the roads heading into this August bank holiday weekend.
