Communications Minister Denis Naughten is waiting for a scan after his bike was hit by another vehicle.

Minister Naughten was taken to Portiuncula Hospital after the incident near Roscommon town on Monday at around midday.

A spokesman for the Department of Communications says his injuries are not serious.

He says the minister is waiting for a scan, and the results from it.

He is not due to undertake any ministerial duties for another day or two.

The spokesman added that it is a private family matter.
