Tipperary 3-13   Galway 1-10

It was a victory they comprehensively earned and the Tipperary fairy tale will continue for another day.

Similar to the other quarter-final of the day, goals were key to producing this outcome with Conor Sweeney and Michael Quinlivan both disturbing the Galway net to stifle the challenge from the westerners.

Tipperary dictated this game with the only patch of resistance coming in the final minute of the first half when midfielder Patrick Conroy fetched a kickout and spun to launch himself into Tipperary's defence.

Damien Comer, who was one of Galway's few redeeming features today, sprinted up alongside him to collect a pass on the run and send the ball rocketing into the roof of the net. That left the scoreboard reading 1-08 to 1-05 in favour of Tipperary.

But just as the game was stating to spark some intrigue, Tipperary advanced into a gear that Galway could not match.

Michael Quinlivan's first half goal was complimented by Conor Sweeney's low strike into the net after the restart. Kevin O'Halloran chipped in with a monster strike shortly after before Sweeney hit his second from roughly the same position as he was in when he fetched his first.

Galway's Danny Cummins responded with Galway's first second half score from play but there was to be no respite for them. A Robbie Kiely point which could well contest the score of the year gong typified Tipperary's superiority and their historic run won't end today.

They now look to a first All-Ireland semi-final since 1935, triggering scenes of pure and utter joy after the final whistle.
