Rescue 116 search teams to work late into the night

Search teams are working late into the night, in their efforts to recover the body of a crewman from the wreckage of Rescue 116.

The coast guard confirmed this morning that a body has been located.

Although weather conditions were good today - a high swell prevented dive teams from entering the water to recover the body.

Several coastguard teams were involved in a surface search today, along with the Garda helicopter.

This afternoon, the black box recorder was transferred to the UK for specialist examination.

The device, which is comprised of two recorders in one, is reportedly in good condition with no apparent external damage. The black box contains both cockpit voice recordings and data on the history of the flight.

As of yet the remains discovered overnight have not been formally identified.

The news was confirmed by the Irish Coast Guard during the early of hours of this morning. They said "Recovery had not been possible at the time of the statement but intensive efforts continue."

Irish Coastguard Manager Declan Geoghegan is hopeful diving can get underway again tomorrow:
