Gardaí are awaiting the results of forensic and toxicology tests following a post mortem on the body of a man who died on board an Aer Lingus flight on Sunday.

Tests are being conducted on a number of packages recovered during the examination at Cork University Hospital.

It is believed 80 pellets, of what is suspected to be cocaine, were recovered in total.

Gardaí are investigating the possibility 24-year-old Brazilian man, John Kennedy Santos Gurjao, was being used as a drugs mule.

Mr Gurjao became highly agitated around an hour into the flight, had to be restrained and subsequently had a seizure.

He was pronounced dead after the Lisbon to Dublin flight was diverted to Cork Airport.

Another passenger - a woman aged in her 40s - is being detained.

Gardaí have interviewed all 168 passengers and six crew on board the diverted plane.

Aer Lingus described the incident as a "medical emergency".

Newstalk.com's southern correspondent Jonathan Healy told Breakfast more details are emerging about this man.
