A demonstration against water charges passed off peacefully in Dublin this afternoon.

Up to 150 people, who are calling for the charges to be scrapped, assembled at Montrose, outside RTE, under heavy Garda presence.

A statement was read by the partner of one of the five water protesters jailed for breaching a court order.

Meanwhile, another march, in support of the water protesters jailed last month for breaking a court injunction is underway from O’Connell Street to Mountjoy Prison.

A candle light vigil is expected to take place outside the prison.
