A ten-year-old boy is being treated for a confirmed case of Ebola in Liberia.

The boy is said to be from an eastern district of the capital Monrovia.

The west African country had been declared free of the disease in May, but a new case was reported in June. The country was again declared to be free of Ebola in September.

The world's worst recorded outbreak of the virus has killed more than 11,000 people in west Africa since December 2013.

The World Health Organisation declared Sierra Leone "Ebola-free" earlier this month.

Charity Doctors Without Borders has said that the young girl involved in the last known case in Guinea has recovered. However the country must wait 42 days without a new case in order to be declared Ebola-free.
