Country-pop singer Taylor Swift's new single 'Welcome to New York' has been doing well in the Canadian iTunes charts, where it entered at number two this week.
Surprisingly though, it has been pipped to the top spot by another of Swift's songs - or rather non-songs - the mysterious 'Track 3,' which is nothing but eight seconds of white noise.
Undeterred by the lack of lyrics, harmony or rhythm, Swift's fans have bought it in droves, not balking at the track's $1.29 price tag.
Is it some mysterious communiqué, whose message will require months of work to decrypt?
Sadly, rather less exciting than this possibility, it seems that 'Track 3' is the result of some iTunes glitch, and that fans downloaded the song after mistaking it for the 'Welcome to New York' single.
