Rolf Harris has denied seven charges of indecent assault - including some against children - as he appeared in court via video link from prison.

The allegations, dating from 1971 to 2004, relate to seven females who were aged between 12 and 27.

One of the alleged victims was disabled.

Harris is alleged to have molested a girl under the age of 14 at BBC Television Centre in 1983 - and then indecently assaulted a woman in the same building 21 years later.

The Australian-born artist wore a grey suit, white shirt and multi-coloured tie as he pleaded not guilty to all charges at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

He gave his address as "HMP Stafford".

Harris' family issued a statement which was read outside court.

In it, they said: "We are disappointed and saddened that the CPS have decided to take Rolf, who will be 86 years old at the end of March, on another trial.

"Nevertheless he has, as he has always done, cooperated with the authorities.

"We, for our part, will do all we can as a family to assist him in proving his innocence."

The defendant was told to appear at London's Southwark Crown Court on 14 April.

Harris enjoyed a long and varied career after finding fame in the 1960s with comedic song Jake The Peg.

He went on to become a major television personality in the UK in more recent decades with his catchphrase "Can you tell what it is yet?".
