A man in his 40s has been knocked down and killed in County Limerick.
He was hit by a car while walking near Daly's Cross in Gooig, Castleconnell at around 6.15am this morning.
The man's body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will take place.
The driver of the car was not injured.
The road is closed this afternoon for a forensic exam.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the Gooig area or in the vicinity of Daly's Cross between 6am and 6.30am this morning to contact them at Henry Street Garda Station on 061-212-400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
