Newly elected Cork TDs have urged tenants facing possible eviction from a residential development in Cork City to stay put and resist moves to kick them out.
RedFM reports tenants at the Eden residential development in Blackrock have until tomorrow to vacate their homes, but Anti Austerity Alliance TD Mick Barry and Sinn Fein TD Donnacha Ó Laoghaire say they will support any tenant who resist attempts to force them out of their homes.
Notices of termination have been issued to tenants of 35 of the 127 units in the Eden residential development in Blackrock, and it is understood 20 have already been vacated.
The newly elected TDs slammed the evictions being carried out by Grant Thornton and said greed and profiteering was driving people out of their homes.
They plan to raise the matter in the Dáil next Tuesday to demand the caretaker Government introduces legislation to prevent evictions of this kind.
