There’s some really bad news for Netflix users in Ireland who are bypassing region locks in order to watch US Netflix, which has a lot more content online.

Due to different international laws, the site offers different content based on location. However, some users have been working their way around these locks by relying on VPN or DNS custom settings to change their region.

Well, it seems that Neflix are beginning to crack down on this.

According to The Verge, some users have been reporting errors when trying to access sites by using these loopholes.

Although this is not widespread, it seems to be an indicator of a wider crackdown by Netflix.

TorGuard’s Ben Van der Pelt told TorrentFreak: “This is a brand new development. A few weeks ago we received the first report from a handful of clients that Netflix blocked access due to VPN or proxy usage. This is the very first time I’ve ever heard Netflix displaying this type of error message to a VPN user,” TorGuard’s Ben Van der Pelt tells us.

However, Netflix is claiming that this is not the case. A spokesperson commented: “The story is false. Our VPN policies have not changed.”
