A Dublin photographer has won a lot of attention for a photo he posted on Facebook of a pensioner in the capital who has taken to feeding pigeons for company.
Peter Varga, who runs the Humans of Dublin blog, shared his picture earlier this week after he met the man on the streets of the capital.
The man told him he had taken to visiting the pigeons after his wife died.
He said: "They're great company, you know? These pigeons know me now. There is one in particular, I can't find her now, but there is one who follows me everywhere. Even if I just walk by with my hands in my pockets," he said in the post.
"The other day I was running to get the bus and when I stepped on the driver told me no animals allowed on the bus! I was thinking, what the hell is he talking about? He pointed at my feet and I looked down and saw this pigeon right beside me! I literally had to ask her to get off... Ah there she is, look! I have no more wheat, but look, I'm going to walk and they're going to follow me!"
