Police in the North say a potential suspect in the Kingsmill Massacre has been identified 40 years after the attack.

10 protestant men were shot dead in 1976, outside the village of Kingsmill in Co. Armagh. The deaths of textile factory workers was widely blamed on the IRA.

The workers had been travelling in a Ford Transit van when they were pulled over by men disguised as British soldiers. The attackers lined up the group and asked each person to state their religion before shooting them.

One was allowed to leave because he was Catholic and another survived the gunfire.

Now the PSNI say they've identified a potential suspect, and they're going to re-open the investigation.

A forensic re-examination of a palm print left on the getaway vehicle has led to the breakthrough. The relatives of the victims have been informed.
