The children of Jason Corbett are at the centre of a custody hearing in North Carolina later today.
The Limerick man died during an alleged domestic incident at his home in America last week.
Jason Corbett's children from his first marriage - 10-year-old Jack and 8-year-old Sarah - are currently in the care of Mr Corbett's second wife, Molly Martens-Corbett.
She is one of the main suspects in the case, as police say Mr Corbett's father-in-law is also a person of interest.
Mr Corbett's brother-in-law, David Lynch, is due to ask the court for custody of the children.
He and his wife Tracey are named in Mr Corbett's will as guardians for the children, should anything happen to him.
Mr Corbett's body was flown home from the United States yesterday.
He is to be buried next to his first wife, who died following an asthma attack eight years ago.
