A man has been arrested after another man died at a house in Co Carlow.

Gardaí were called to a house on Frederick Avenue at around 1.30pm Wednesday after a report of a male being stabbed.

A 46-year-old man was found seriously injured, and he was later pronounced dead.

Another man aged in his 20s was arrested a short time later.

He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Carlow garda station.

The area has been preserved for a technical examination, and the offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.
