A health insurance company wants a reform of the Health Insurance Levy, which it says could save families as much as €300 on their annual premiums.
The levy is currently €399 on an adult plan and is the same for anyone with a plan that gives them access to private health facilities.
That means it accounts for a small part of a high-end plan, but up to 60% of an ordinary family's cover.
