Armed Gardaí and the bomb squad are currently at the scene.

Waterford's mayor Adam Wyse told Newstalk that initial reports had suggested there was a bomb in Theatre Royal set to go off at 1pm, and another in the City Council office for 1.20pm.

However, he said the situation now "appears to be under control".
