Around 6,000 people have protested on the streets of Limerick against water charges.
Organised by the Anti-Austerity Alliance and the 'We Won't Pay' campaign, the protesters gathered at City Hall before they marched through the streets and burned their Irish Water customer information packs.
Anti-Austerity Alliance Councillor Cian Prendiville, who helped organise the protest, said the huge numbers were a sign of the level of revolt against the water charges.
In rallying the protesters he had this message for the Government:
Last night, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the Government was working hard to make sure the public understood the need for water charges.
The energy regulator has given Irish Water a one-month extension to the registration period - meaning the first bills will not have to be paid until February.
