A man in his 80s has died following a crash in County Sligo yesterday afternoon.

He was a passenger in a car which was involved in a collision with a van at Lufnadeffa, Ballysadare at twenty past twelve.

A woman in her 80s, who was driving the car, and the van driver, who is in his 50's, were taken to Sligo Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

A post mortem will take place on the dead man's body today, and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

Meanwhile a woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Co Cork.

The two vehicle crash happened on the Rathcormac to Conna Road near Leahy's Cross shortly before 9 o'clock this morning.

The woman was driving one of the vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was seriously injured and has been taken to Cork University Hospital.

The road has been closed for a technical examination.
