Gardaí are attending the scene of a shooting in North County Dublin.

The incident happened in the Dun Emer housing estate in Lusk at 9:50am this morning.

It is understood that the man received gunshot injuries and was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

A Volkswagon Golf was seen leaving the area and was discovered burnt out at Kilhedge Lane in Lusk a short time later.

Emergency services remain at the scene and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

An investigation is currently underway.
