The home of a 1916 Rising leader is to be flattened to make way for luxury apartments.

A protest against the demolition was held this afternoon in Ballsbridge.

Yesterday An Bord Pleanala gave the green light for developers to demolish the home of The O’Rahilly at Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 to make way for a €66 million 12 storey luxury apartment development, and this was despite opposition from historians, An Taisce and the Department of Culture and Arts.
