The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has accused Israel of wiping genocide evidence by carting off rubble and remains in Gaza.
The organisation has said the Israeli occupation army is carrying out a large-scale and organised operation to clear and process rubble from neighbourhoods and facilities they have destroyed in the Gaza Strip, transferring the debris from areas under its military control to locations outside the enclave.
These operations are not part of organised humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
They have reported that Israel is demolishing remaining buildings and then crushing and transporting the rubble before forensic teams and evidence experts can examine, document, and preserve the sites, along with the evidence and human remains.
Speaking on The Pat Kenny Show, Middle East-based journalist Hannah McCarthy said that "significant amounts of land have been demolished".
"It is important for people to take a step back and think about the size of Gaza. It's less than half the size of Dublin."
"They are taking rubble that is potentially from the sides of crime scenes."
"We know that once the war started in October 2023, that often different families gathered together in one building. In many cases over 100 members of the same family were killed in one attack. And again, there is very little care being taken in how these excavations are taking place."
Previous Warnings
Ms McCarty continues: "We have had warning signs from experts who've been involved in previous conflicts in Bosnia and Yugoslavia who spoke of the need to preserve this type of evidence at this site to ensure that a proper process can happen in order to identify and exhume these bodies."
In April, The Gaza Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment estimated that approximately 68 million tonnes of rubble are spread across the Gaza Strip, based on damage reports up to October 2025.
In recent weeks, Euro-Med Monitor tracked nearly 100 Israeli trucks daily leaving the Gaza Strip carrying debris.
They stated in a press release that these trucks 'carry rubble to undisclosed sites within Israel and further south of the occupied West Bank, and Israeli authorities have not provided details on the amount removed, the routes taken, the destination sites, or how the material is utilised'.
Israeli Defence Forces Investigates
Israel said that any charges made against the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) for illegal killing of Palestinians are investigated by the IDF themselves.
Ms McCarthy says that "there are significant issues with the idea of a military investigating its own behaviour in a conflict zone. There is a need for independent investigators to go into Gaza."
"So far, they have been denied access, as has foreign journalists outside of very controlled, military-escorted visits."
" Israeli elections are coming up, which will also influence the type of rhetoric or steps that the Israeli government will want to take in advance of an Israeli electorate that has shifted very hard to the right in recent years."
Ms McCarthy continues: "There is not going to be a desire before elections to not take a hard stance on Hamas."
Israel is due to hold a national election on October 27.
