While Donald Trump continues to test the limits of his constitutional power, one particular assertion has raised the hackles of democratic observers. In an interview with NBC News, the President insisted that he is “not joking” as he apparently contemplates the idea of a third term in office, despite term limits being written into law. So, is this yet more bombastic nonsense or should the idea be taken seriously?
