UK Parliament will be suspended from 'close of business' today as MPs are set to reject Government calls for a snap general election.

Parliament is currently sitting its final day before a potential 5 week hiatus.

Opposition MPs confirmed they would not back any call for a mooted election on October 15th, and they have insisted that a law blocking a no-deal Brexit must be implemented first.

This all comes as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson met this morning in Dublin, admitting that while “common ground” was established in some areas, “significant gaps” remain between them.

Author and journalist Kevin Myers gives his analysis of where Anglo-Irish relations are at.  He believes that Ireland is too devout to the EU, and it is utterly 'absurd'.

Meanwhile, he has no time for Boris Johnson, and says '"if there is an honest bone in his body he hasn't found it yet."
