A report by the Department of Transport has said there’s ‘merit’ in considering congestion charges for Dublin and Cork.

It is one of over a dozen other proposals in the works for improving quality of life in Irish cities.

The congestion charge is an idea that has been implemented in a number of cities around the world, aimed at reducing traffic in city centres.

Brian Caufield is associate professor in Transport at Trinity College Dublin, and he joined Kieran on The Hard Shoulder to discuss whether it should be introduced to our cities.
