The world’s oldest ice cores have just arrived in the UK after a journey all the way from East Antarctica.

Scientists will soon begin melting this ice in an attempt to find out what the world was like 1.5 million years ago.

But, what can melted old water really tell us about the Earth of the distant past?

Dr. Liz Thomas is the Head of Ice Core Research at the British Antarctic Survey, and  joins me now…
