We humans are pretty smart.

We’re top of the food-chain, wield the immense power of the atom, we explore the outer reaches of space and time and every day unravel more and more of the inner-workings of the world around us.

Yeah, we’re pretty impressive.

So how come our babies aren’t.

How can a species so highly developed and intelligent give birth to infants so completely dependant on their caregivers? So utterly helpless?
