Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is targeting a top-four finish in the Premier League in his first full season in charge.

The Toffees finished in 12th-place last term, 17-points adrift of the Champions League spots.

"We want to fight for the fourth position in the Premier League and reach Europe next season," the Italian coach said ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

We have this ambition and I think we can achieve it. The players are happy to come here now and they are going to use their quality for the team and the club.

"I know the passion our supporters have for us, Ancelotti added. "They are really excited by the signings we've made, they want to have a club that is competitive in the Premier League.

"We can satisfy that desire this season, we will do our best for this."

James Rodriguez was also unveiled at Goodison Park today following his 15-million Euro move from Real Madrid and the Colombian midfielder believes the Toffees can challenge for trophies.

"Everton is a club that means business, there are some serious minded people who want to achieve things and we want to win trophies.

"It's not going to happen overnight, but it’s a long-term plan.  I've seen from my few days here the fans are what I like to call proper fans.

"When the fans are so passionate, we want to give even more to try and make them happy. I've sensed that affection and I want everyone to know it's mutual."
