Leinster have confirmed the signing of Munster forward Jason Jenkins.

The versatile South African will join Leo Cullen's squad at the end of the season.

Having arrived to Limerick last summer, Jenkins' time in the south has been plagued by injury.

He has only made one appearance for the province.

Jenkins has been capped on one occasion for South Africa - in 2018 - and will add depth to Leinster's second row options.

“We understand how unfortunate Jason has been with injuries since his arrival in Ireland but everyone can also see what he brings to the table in terms of his physicality, his size and his skillset and we look forward to welcoming him to Leinster Rugby ahead of next season," head coach Leo Cullen said.

“I know from talking to him that he is looking forward to the challenge and putting his hand up for selection in a competitive group of players."

Speaking about his time with Munster, Jenkins says he could not have asked for any more from the staff.

“First of all, I’d like to thank Johann, all the coaches and management staff at Munster Rugby and in particular the medical team and physios.

“To say that I have been frustrated with the season and my injuries would be an understatement, but I cannot speak highly enough of the group of people that I have had the privilege of working with."

He will remain with Munster until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Cullen has named his team for tomorrow evening's clash with the Lions at the RDS.

Rhys Ruddock will captain the side on the occasion of his 200th appearance.

He made his debut in 2009 and has also collected 27 Ireland caps.

Dan Leavy returns for the first time since November to start alongside Ruddock in the backrow.

Elsewhere, academy player Max O'Reilly comes in to fill the number 15 shirt in the absence of Jimmy O'Brien, who has been called into the Ireland squad.
