Brian O'Driscoll believes Leinster youngster Garry Ringrose deserves the opportunity to get into the province's 23.
The 20-year-old centre is not in the matchday squad for Saturday's crunch Champions Cup game against Bath which is live on Off The Ball but has featured six times this season - five in the Guinness Pro 12.
"The bit that I have seen of Garry this year, I think he's deserving of being in the 23 on merit. Nothing to do with blooding, I think he's been one of Leinster's best players," said Brian on tonight's show.
"Garry will get lots of opportunities this year and it's his initial year into this level of performance. But taking a chance on him, I think you will be rewarded on this guy."
Ringrose was a nominee for IRB Junior Player of the Year 2014.
Meanwhile, Brian identified the ruck as an area can improve on from their defeat at Wasps last weekend.
"All the multi-phase stuff wasn't far off last week but they weren't particularly clinical when it came to clearing out rucks," he said.
"You've got to win rucks now with two, maximum three players. So, the first two guys have to do a job."
Dave McIntyre, Liam Toland and Keith Wood are live from The Rec on Saturday for live Off The Ball coverage of the Leinster game.
