That was before he switched from possession play to high-press attacking at Liverpool in 2013-14.

Just before that, Pep Guardiola's Barcelona embodied "death by football", passing and pressing teams into submission.

And that still remains a key component of his style at Manchester City.

Man City's Treble

It was at its devastating best in the FA Cup final as City thrashed Watford. A truly merciless performance from a side already possessing the Premier League and League Cup.

But the way City have gone about their business on and off the field has fed into existential questions about where football is going.

Inequality between the elite clubs like City and the also-rans have never been more cemented. And football below the tip of the pyramid is submerged like an iceberg.

That debate provided the bedrock of this week's Team 33 with Joe Coffey, Jonathan Higgins and Enda Coll.

You can listen to the full show just below or here. Or you can subscribe/stream on iTunes for free. For Liverpool fans, you'll find in-depth interviews with Stig Inge Bjornebye and Markus Babbel. Plus, Liverpool throw-in-coach Thomas Gronnemark also spoke to us recently.

Pog Mo Goal's James Carew and Edd Norval also dropped in to discuss their magazine and alternative football writing.

Next week's special guest will be former Ipswich and Bohemians goalkeeper Shane Supple.

Meanwhile, Team 33 turned 5-years-old this week, so we'll tweet some of our old montages made by Joe Richard Chambers and I back in the day.
