The clothing chain American Apparel has been told off by Britain's advertising watchdog for using "overtly sexual" images on its website to promote knitwear.

The UK Advertising Standards Authority ruled the photos were demeaning to women.

The US brand - which has been in trouble with the ASA before - says it "did its best" to abide by industry standards.
