Ireland striker and club and international team-mate Enda Stevens joined us on the show

The last international break was one for David McGoldrick to cherish.

Back in the international fold, he got a standing ovation from Ireland fans as he was subbed off late on after an all-action display up front.

And it was a welcome return, having missed all of Ireland's 2018 matches.

Rumours abounded of a fall-out with former Boys in Green boss Martin O'Neill.

But McGoldrick dispelled those rumours when he joined Joe Molloy on Off The Ball.

"I heard that rumour and I got asked that when I first met up [with the squad], the other week," he said.

"I wasn't happy"

"At club level, at international level, you're going to have disagreements with the manager about not playing.

"I was left out and I spoke to [O'Neill] before one of the games and he told me he was leaving me out.

"I wasn't happy. But there was no falling out. There was no nothing. We were all on good terms. And then that was it, I didn't get picked."

But McGoldrick also admitted has last appearance for Ireland prior to his recall by Mick McCarthy didn't go well.

"My last game for Ireland was against Mexico and I think I made about two successful passes and hardly touched the ball," he said.

"So on that viewing, you can see why I couldn't get picked. So there was no falling out and I respect Martin and I respect Roy [Keane] and all the staff. They gave me my debut against USA some years ago and I hope they do well for my local team Nottingham Forest."

McGoldrick was on the Football Show alongside Sheffield United and Ireland team-mate Enda Stevens.

The two also discussed their club and international careers. Plus they discussed the FIFA games and how international team-mate David Meyler isn't as invincible as we were all led to believe.
