Aston Villa have completed the signing of Arsenal defender Callum Chambers.

The 27-year old has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract at Villa Park to become Steven Gerrard's fourth major signing of the January window.

Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have joined on loan, while €29million was handed over to Everton for full-back Lucas Digne.

Chambers joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2014, but his first season at The Emirates was his most impactful with 36 appearances in all competitions.

This season, he's only made two Premier League appearances with his last outing for Mikel Arteta's coming in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final with Liverpool at Anfield.

"It’s a great club, it’s a massive club," Chambers told the avfc.co.uk, "I’ve played at Villa Park a few times and it’s great stadium with a great set of fans.

“The manager did very well at Rangers. He’s a young, exciting manager and I can’t wait to work with him.”

Chambers added, "It’s a great stage to be joining the club at. The club’s building momentum and it’s an exciting time to be here.

“You can really feel that being in and around the building. You can feel the energy around the place.

“I feel like I’ve joined at a great time and I can’t wait to get started and give it my all.”
