More than 70% of people engage in work communication such as texts, calls and emails after work hours, a Newstalk survey has revealed.
The 'How Ireland Works' survey asked more than 1,000 people about their working lives.
71.5% of respondents said they engaged in work communication after work hours, with 41% saying they do so daily.
While a large majority (83.3%) take a lunch break, the survey shows the one-hour lunch break is no longer the norm - with around 24% of respondents taking 20 minutes or less.
The most common lunch break is just 20-40 minutes, while one-in-six people surveyed say they don't take a lunch break at all.
Half of respondents say their employer does not offer paid maternity leave, with that number rising to nearly 70% for paternity leave.
One-in-five people (22.75%) said they still work the traditional 40 hour week.
However, many people now enjoy more than the legal minimum of 20 annual leave days.
Overall, the majority of workers say they are content in their role - with 83% saying they are very or somewhat happy.
Despite that, 43% of respondents say they would like to change job.
