An investigation has been launched into the death of an 8-year-old Irish boy in the US.
The child became trapped under a boat after it capsized on the Cape Cod Canal near Boston last Wednesday.
He was taken to Boston's Children's Hospital but died on Saturday.
It is understood the family are originally from Clonmel in Co Tipperary but have been living in Massachusetts.
The Department of Foreign Affairs say it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
His funeral is set to take place on Thursday in Co Meath.
His family have requested no flowers, but donations to Crumlin Children's Hospital instead.
