A status yellow wind warning has been issued for western counties for Thursday.
It comes as Storm Caroline approaches the north coast of Scotland.
While parts of Scotland are due to experience severe winds, strong & blustery winds are also expected over western counties here in Ireland.
The wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
It will be in effect between 3am and 8pm this coming Thursday.
Met Éireann says: "Northwest winds of 55 to 65 km/h are expected to gust 100 to 110 km/h - strongest winds in coastal areas and over high ground."
Status yellow is the lowest warning level issued by Met Éireann.
Elsewhere, freezing conditions are expected to return this week - with forecasters saying lowest temperatures of minus 2 to plus 2 degrees are expected overnight on Thursday.
