Social media app Snapchat is to launch a new type of camera - in sunglasses.

Called Spectacles, the glasses have an integrated video camera.

They contain one of the smallest wireless video cameras in the world - capable of taking a day's worth of Snaps on a single charge.

It has been integrated into the sunglasses, which will be available in three different colours.

The Spectacles then connect directly to Snapchat via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

They then transfer a users data directly into the app in a new circular video format.

The firm say they have been "working for the past few years" to develop the product.

"Circular video plays full screen on any device, in any orientation, and captures the human perspective with a 115 degree field of view", the company says.

It comes amid other big change at the firm, as Snapchat changes its name to Snap Inc.

"When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product.

"Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product – but doesn’t lose the familiarity and fun of our team and brand", the company says in a statement.

It also says the new name will make it easier for customers to find relevant product information - rather than company information or financial analysis.
