Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close and Paddy Considine fill out the impressive cast
Released in January 2014, M. R. Carey's novel The Girl With All The Gifts was instantly gifted with critical acclaim and massive word-of-mouth fuelled sales.
It wasn't long before Hollywood snapped up the rights to the story, and Warner Brothers have just released the first trailer for the movie.
The trailer does a good job of setting up the universe - a zombie-like virus has infected humanity, with those who remain attempting to learn more about the disease before it kills of the entire population - without giving away too many of the plot points.
At the centre of the story is Melaine, played by newcomer Sienna Nanua, who is infatuated with her teacher Helen (Gemma Arterton), the only person who shows her any sort of kindness. But when things take a turn for the worst, Melanie and Helen must attempt to get back to the city, accompanied by hardened soldier Parks (Paddy Considine) and the icy scientist Caroline (Glenn Close).
Directed by Colm McCarthy - best known for helming episodes of Sherlock, Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders, The Girl With All The Gifts will arrive in Irish cinemas on September 23rd.
