Ulster Bank has experienced problems processing some payments overnight and this morning, including the transfer of customer's wages.

While the majority of payments have gone through successfully, some customers woke up with lower balances than they were expecting.

"Some payment files have been delayed in the system this morning and we are working to have these applied as soon as possible," the bank said in a statement. "We apologise for this inconvenience and emergency cash is available to Ulster Bank customers if they contact us on 1850 424 365."

The bank also has a customer care Twitter account - @UlsterBank_Help.

Replying to a tweet from an affected customer, Ulster Bank said that there is no timescale for how long it will take for this issue to be fixed.

Ulster Bank added that it is "working hard to resolve this and have these applied as soon as possible" and that it "apologises for any inconvenience caused."
