The Transport Minister says a review of pre-clearance facilities at Dublin and Shannon airports will be completed and with the Taoiseach by the weekend.

The review was announced last week amid concerns over Donald Trump's executive order on immigration which banned people from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the US for 90 days.

President Trump also ordered a temporary suspension of the US refugee programme, and an indefinite suspension on the entry of Syrian refugees.

The order itself is temporarily suspended, with a ruling by a US appeals court over the controversial order expected today or tomorrow.

Opposition leaders had raised concerns over the policy's potential implementation at Irish airports.

The Department of Transport said one person had been stopped from travelling to the US under the rules.

Shane Ross has told the Dáil he would not consider ending the facility, even if the travel ban is re-imposed.

However, he said the review will outline how Irish law applies at the facilities.

"There are all sort of complicated issues there," he said. "That has been addressed and that'll be on the Taoiseach's desk by the weekend."
