Mist and fog patches also, potentially lingering all day near the south coast.
Drier and brighter for a time over the northern half of the country this afternoon, but the rain will spread countrywide again this evening, with locally heavy falls.

Southwest winds will fall light variable inland this afternoon, but will continue fresh to strong and gusty near some coasts.
Tonight, the rain will gradually clear eastwards into the Irish Sea with relatively clear skies following in from the west.
Local mist and fog patches will form.
A few showers will still occur near western and northwestern coasts, though.
Winds will be mostly light to moderate southwesterly, but fresh to strong near the northwest coast. Lows of 7 to 9 degrees.
