Today will be a bright day with spells of sunshine. In Atlantic coastal counties there will be heavy and frequent showers with a risk of hail and thunder. Elsewhere showers will be more isolated.
Feeling cold with afternoon highs of just 7 to 9 degrees in mostly moderate west to southwest winds. On west coasts westerly winds will be fresh to strong and gusty.
Dry and clear tonight in most areas, just a few showers at first on west coasts. Later in the night cloud will increase in the west followed by some light rain and drizzle towards morning.
Lowest temperatures in the east will be between zero and 2 degrees resulting in a widespread frost.
Further west lowest temperatures will range between 3 and 6 degrees. Southwest winds will be mainly light.
