US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood walk of fame has been destroyed by a man dressed a city construction worker.
Deadline reports the man - wielding a sledgehammer and an axe – said he was trying to extract the star from the walkway to auction it and raise funds for the women who have come forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault in recent weeks.
A video of the man destroying the star was obtained by Deadline.
The incident reportedly occurred around 5:45AM (13:45 in Ireland) with images showing the embedded brass star smashed to bits.

The man had already left the scene by the time the Los Angeles Police arrived and investigations are ongoing.
The Republican nominee’s star was dedicated in 2007 - in recognition of his days as host of The Apprentice US.
This is far from the first time star has been vandalized, however the damage has never been so severe.
January saw a reverse swastika painted over it with a mute sign scrawled across it later in the year.
The Trump campaign has yet to comment on the incident.
