Cold and blustery this morning with scattered wintry showers and frost in places.
The winds will continue to ease during the morning and many areas will be dry. Heavy, persistent rain will affect parts of the west and southwest this afternoon and evening with scattered showers of rain, sleet and snow elsewhere.
A status yellow wind warning for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wicklow, Offaly, Mayo and Roscommon remains in effect until 9am
Temperatures at best 6 to 9 degrees.
Further heavy showers tonight of rain, sleet and snow.
Lowest temperatures zero to 3 degrees with frost and icy patches developing.
