"There's no doubt there's been an increase in what's called the 'supermarket scrape' recently" - Conor Faughnan

The AA's Conor Faughnan tells George about the effect of cars getting bigger.

Statistics in the UK have shown that family cars are becoming too big for parking spaces, and it has lead to car park crashes increasing by 35%.

Another knock-on effect has seen an increase in insurance premiums to cover the cost.

Conor Faughnan of the AA popped in to George on High Noon today, and he was unsurprised by this news, and said you can see similar patterns in Ireland.

'There's been a definite increase in the 'supermarket scrape', where cars, too big for parking spaces, suffer from minor scrapes.'

George referenced the recent upsurge in the numbers of SUVs seen on the country's roads as another reason why cars seem to be getting into more incidents.
