OCI confirms reports of Pat Hickey being taken to a police station for questioning

The Olympic Council of Ireland has confirmed reports that Pat Hickey has been discharged from hospital in Rio and taken to a police station for questioning.

Local reporters are stating on social media that due to a national holiday in Brazil, Hickey may not be properly questioned until tomorrow, but this has yet to receive official confirmation.

The Sports Minister Shane Ross has all but ruled out an internal Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) into an alleged ticket touting scandal in Brazil.

Mr Ross was speaking to journalists after he returned home from Brazil.

"We'll decide tomorrow as a matter of urgency what sort of inquiry to carry out," he said.

"We've got to talk this through - we don't know today what sort of inquiry it will be."

Rio police: New information may prove US swimmers lied about robbery

Police in Rio de Janeiro investigating a robbery case involving Ryan Lochte and a number of other swimmers from the United States' Olympic team believe new information will show that they were not telling the truth about the incident.

Lochte, James Feigen, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger stated that they had been robbed near the Casa França club (part of France's Olympic hospitality venue) in the early hours of Sunday morning last week.
