Fine Gael support has fallen again in a new opinion poll. The Red C poll for tomorrow's Irish Sun shows support is down another two points - and is now five points lower than when the campaign began. The poll of 1,006 voters was taken between last Thursday and yesterday - with sampling finishing just before last night's seven-way TV debate.
Rob Kearney says it is unfair to try to compare Ireland's current style of play at international level to the type of rugby Leinster played under Joe Schmidt before the former head coach took over the national side. Tributes are being paid to the former head of the United Nations, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, who has died at the age of 93. He became the sixth Secretary-General of the UN on January 1st 1992, when he began a five-year term. At the time of his appointment he had been deputy prime minister for foreign affairs of Egypt since May 1991.

Nobody was giving an inch, with the election (and how pointless it is, according to Vincent) Ireland’s social inequality, taxation, the GDP and Labour’s failings all getting the pair throwing barbs back and forth.
Rural recovery, the USC and healthcare were the big issues discussed on the Leaders Debate this evening on RTE. Overall, despite the fears that having seven party leaders would lead to chaos, the three newcomers actually enhanced the debate. Even if you don’t agree with their message, you would have to say that they delivered it very well.
